Description

User Story

As a player, I want certain items to drop when I or an enemy dies, so that I can recover lost items or collect rewards from defeated enemies.

Player Drops:

  • Some items drop at the player's death location (e.g., consumables, collectables).
  • Dropped items can be retrieved if the player returns to the location before dying again.
  • If the player dies again before collecting their dropped items, they are lost permanently.

Enemy Drops:

  • Defeated enemies may drop items like health/mana pickups, collectables, or spell scrolls.
  • Drops can be randomized or predetermined, depending on the enemy type.
  • Some enemies drop unique rewards upon first defeat, while others respawn with normal drops.

Test Cases

  • Verify that intended items drop correctly upon player death.
  • Ensure that dropped player items remain at the death location until collected or lost.
  • Confirm that dying again before retrieval permanently removes the dropped items.
  • Validate that enemy drops spawn correctly upon defeat.
  • Ensure that unique enemy drops function correctly and do not respawn if intended as one-time rewards.
  • Check that visual/audio effects indicate dropped items on death.
